The Seabrook Island Artist Guild (SIAG), is located on Seabrook Island. This private island community with beaches bordering the Atlantic Ocean is only 30 minutes from downtown Charleston. The Guild has about 100 Members; artists and art lovers from not only Seabrook Island, but Kiawah and Johns Island. SIAG artists and artisans continually draw inspiration from the beauty of the South Carolina lowcountry with its many marshes, creeks, and rivers, along with varieties of wildlife that make the area their home.
The SIAG Fine Art artists and Fine Craft artisans work in many different media, such as watercolor, clay, oil, pastels, fiber, embroidery, mixed media, pen and ink, alcohol inks, etching, wood and many others. The different medias and diverse artistic interpretations of the artists provide a unique experience for the observer. The diversity of topics, whether it is an artist bringing to life their lived adventures through travels around the world, or an artist expressing a beach sunset, all contribute to a lively and successful artist guild.
The purpose of the Seabrook island Artist Guild is to stimulate the creativity of our membership by providing art enrichment opportunities for our Members. For example, supporting our artists with demonstrations and workshops presented by locally recognized artists and internationally renowned artists. This is a great opportunity to meet and share the world of different art perspectives. The Guild supports its artists in exhibiting their artworks for viewing or sales by hosting several art shows throughout the year. We also go beyond our own community. SIAG is pleased to be involved with the Johns Island local schools supporting them through outreach and fundraisers for their art department programs.
Monthly Guild Meetings and Demos are usually held the first Monday of each month. The first Tuesday afternoon of each month, we hold an Artist of the Month (AOM) Reception, a wonderful social gathering to meet highlighted artists whose artworks are displayed for one month in the Lake House Gallery Hallway.
This year, the Guild has created new and additional opportunities for Members and Seabrook Island residents to create, learn, and explore art! Art Sessions and Presentations are offered (see the "Art Enrichment Tuesdays" tab).
The annual membership fee is $35; members can exhibit, sell, and participate in any workshop for a reduced fee. To join the GUILD, contact Lee Fritz, VP for Membership and Treasurer ([email protected]) or any of the Board members below:
